Dan played his minor hockey for the Cowichan Valley Minor Hockey Association. After "AAA" midget, Dan played Jr. "A" for the Williams Lake Mustangs and the Castlegar Rebels before returning home to finish his Junior career with the Kerry Park Islanders Jr. Hockey Club where he was selected All-Star defenceman for two consecutive years.

Dan is presently a coach and scout for the Kerry Park Islanders and pursuing a career in coaching.
